Laser Therapy

Minimally invasive treatments with focussed light

The laser therapy is not only one of the latest methods of the aesthetic medicine. At the same time it is a minimally invasive treatment offering a lot of different possibilities. The therapeutic spectrum ranges from wrinkles and scars to liver or pigment spots and treatment against hair loss. In order to be able to effectively treat a high number of different complaints, the experts from KÖ-KLINIK use two different methods: The laser therapy including fractional laser and the IPL (Intensed Pulsed Light). These two treatments pursue a different concept but are they are both suitable for all patients who want to avoid an operational intervention.

Fractional laser therapy at KÖ-KLINIK

The principle of the fractional laser is the so-called “wounding”. The laser beam penetrates through the uppermost skin layer (epidermis) up to the second layer (dermis) where it causes microscopically small damages. That means that the skin is deliberately done harm. This may sound strange but does have a medical reason: The healing processes make sure that the body increasingly produces collagen and fibroblasts at these areas. These proteins support the connective tissue and keep the skin flexible and elastic. Due to the effect of producing collagen, the fractional laser therapy is ideal to treat wrinkles. But also other aesthetical blemishes of the skin can be treated effectively with the laser. Among these there are:

  • stretch marks
  • skin appendages
  • scars
  • hair loss
  • acne, acne scars
  • pore reduction

The wounding also shows its effect when treating hair loss as it activates the stem cells. The blood circulation of the scalp is being stimulated so that the hair roots are provided well with nutrients and oxygen. The consequence: The hair loss is being minimised, the hair growth is being stimulated.

IPL – Treatment using the full power of the light

When treating with the IPL device, we use energetic, visible white light. From the physical point of view one has to mention that no real laser is used. But in order to simplify matters we at KÖ-KLINIK sum up the fractional laser therapy and the IPL treatment under the terms of laser therapies. The IPL device sends light flashes of different wavelengths via crystal head up to the second skin layer, the dermis. There the flashes provide for a stronger heat development and thus stimulate the production of the skin-tightening proteins collagen and elastin. At the same time the intense, impulse-like light stimulates the self-healing and renewal process of the skin. The IPL therapy is especially suitable for treating:

  • spider veins
  • rosacea
  • couperose
  • pigment spots, liver spots
  • little veins

Both, the fractional laser therapy and the IPL treatment have to be repeated several times. This procedure is especially recommended for people who suffer from stubborn skin damage and signs of ageing. According to the indication, about three to eight sessions with intervals of two to four weeks are necessary. To what you should also pay attention regarding these therapy methods: The skin has to be fostered for several days after every session. Furthermore it has to be protected from direct sunlight.
